Rosie Lowe – Water Came Down Lyrics
Building bridges, burn them down again
What’s left lies on the water’s edge
Just floating in nothing
Never thought we’d write an ending
When we were only on beginning
Oh, now it burns
CHORUS:
One night of fire, we had it now it’s washed away
With bricks and mortar, we built it but it would not stay
When the water came down
Once the water came down
Now it burns
Dip in dripping,
Wash our hands of what we thought
Would stand through any flood or fight
Seems this love aint’ water tight
CHORUS:
One night of fire, we had it now it’s washed away
With bricks and mortar, we built it but it would not stay
When the water came down
Once the water came down
Now it burns
One night of fire, we burnt it up before the dawn
With gold and silver were kept but now the good stuff’s gone
When the water came down
Once the water came down
Now it burns
Don’t you rush it, take your time
If it’s true love, you’ve got the rest of life
So don’t you rush it, take your time
If it’s true love, you’ve got the rest of life
CHORUS:
One night of fire, we had it now it’s washed away
With bricks and mortar, we built it but it would not stay
When the water came down
Once the water came down
Now it burns
When the water came down
Once the water came down
When the water came down
Once the water came down
When the water came down
Once the water came down

The lyrics reminded me of this verse from the Bible: “Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you: Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires. … Love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame. Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot sweep it away” (Song of Solomon 8:4, 6B-7A).
