Blackfield – Jupiter Lyrics
Once we were young We had no plans
What simplicity of love
We used to get it to get it all
We weren’t scared to fail and fall
Now, all I can do is to stand, watch
Those new boys in the game
How they’re laughing and having fun
Making rules under the sun
I won’t win her pretty eyes tonight
It’s been so long since I played it right
I’ll get to Jupiter and halfway back
Before she’ll even notice I’m around
They used to call me A city queen
But now God’s playing his jokes on me
I’m all alone far from the city
I’ve got no room no time for dreams
Won’t win in her pretty eyes tonight
It’s been so long since I played it right
I’ll get to Jupiter and halfway back
Before she’ll even notice I’m around
Once we were young We had no plans
What simplicity of love
We used to get it to get it all
We had no time to fail and fall
I won’t win her pretty eyes tonight
It’s been so long since I played it right
I’ll get to Jupiter and halfway back
Before she’ll even notice I’m around
Once we were young We had no plans
What simplicity of love
We used to get it to get it all
We had no time to fail and fall
I’ll get to Jupiter and halfway back
Before she’ll even notice I’m around

This song gets me everytime. As a non english speaker, can someone tell me what a city queen is? Thank you so much!
I understand that city king makes more sense; but maybe it’s an expression or something.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can explain me this.
It sounds to me (and makes more sense to the song itself), that “We once scared to fail or fall”, is actually “We weren’t scared to fail or fall”. In the second verse, I think it’s “Now, all I can do is to stand, watch”. “But now God’s playing jokes on me”, should be “But now God’s playing his jokes on me”. In the second chorus, you have “raw in”, should be “won’t win”.
What an awesome song! Love the lyrics.
Yes John, the song is indeed awesome, we love it too. We also relistened to the song, and have corrected it according to your help. Thank you very much for handing us a hand.
I think it’s “we once scared to fail and fall.” not “we once get to fail and fall.”
and it’s “I won’t win her pretty eyes tonight.” Not “raw….”
Thank you for the help Terry! We’ve updated the lyrics and we highly appreciate your help.
